We want to make the dogs who come into our care as happy and stress-free as possible in a shelter environment. Our plans include larger kennels in smaller blocks to reduce noise induced stress. We have designed the layout to cut out sight lines between dogs. The kennels will have a comfortable sleep area leading out to individual external runs for play and exercise. In addition to 21 new kennels we will have 6 extra large family kennels for those dogs that can't be split, or for bigger dogs. Our focus is on disease prevention, with the new blocks enabling us to maintain the highest standard of hygiene. Climate control will keep them cosy in the winter and cool in the summer. The dogs will also have their own bespoke canine veterinary facilities.

The dog area will be divided into separate intake and rehoming sections to create a calmer environment for the new dogs to settle in during their initial assessments. Dedicated exercise paddocks and enrichment walks have been designed for adopters to meet their forever friends, and the animal care team to spend quality one to one time with the dogs.
